Hanne Lomholdt, who took a keen interest in opera, established the Foundation.
In honour of Hanne Lomholdt's lifelong passion, the object of the Foundation is to provide financial support to opera singers at an early stage of their career, including for the purpose of education, studying abroad and other activities, which in a broad sense contribute to the advance and promotion of opera singers.

The Board of Directors will consider applications for grants once a year. A response will only be sent to applicants who receive a grant. If the applicant does not receive a response, a grant has not been allocated to the applicant.
In general, the Foundation will not allot grants to applicants if the purpose of the application has already been carried out at the time when the Foundation received the application.
The Board of Directors has laid down a grant policy that sets out the criteria under which grants are allocated.
Generally, importance will be attached to the application’s quality, including the artistic skills of the applicant, and that the purpose of the application complies with the Foundation's object.
Moreover, a number of guidelines must be observed by all applicants.
The Foundation was established on 5 December 2017. The Board of Directors constitutes five members with a keen interest in opera.
